Choosing a 6 or 8-seater taxi for group travel

Keeping a group together in one vehicle beats splitting across two cars — it's simpler, more sociable and easier to coordinate. The question is whether a 6-seater is enough or whether you need the full 8-seater. It comes down to two things: how many people, and how much luggage.

Count people and luggage separately

A vehicle's seat count assumes passengers travelling light. Once you add suitcases, golf bags, pushchairs or shopping, the usable space changes. Six adults heading out for dinner will sit comfortably in a 6-seater; six adults with a suitcase each for a week abroad are better in an 8-seater, where the extra room absorbs the bags.

When a 6-seater is the right call

• Families travelling with light bags
• Small groups heading to a night out or an event
• Day trips where luggage is minimal
• Airport runs for four to six people travelling light

When to size up to an 8-seater

• Seven or eight passengers
• Group airport transfers with a case each
• Sports teams with kit
• Occasions where comfort and space matter over the whole journey

Tell us both numbers when you book

The most helpful thing you can do is tell us the passenger count and a rough idea of luggage. We'd rather send a vehicle with room to spare than have a group arrive to find the boot won't close. Larger vehicles are naturally limited in number, so booking ahead is wise — particularly at weekends and during events.
